The total number of successful applications may exceed the allocated funds from EHA. Where this does happen, EHA may seek to top up its HIT grant fund to cover the additional participation fee, or it may ask where its Members have been successful in multiple applications, they consider covering part or all of the costs through their own learning and development budgets.
-
To ensure your submission aligns with the HIT Scotland selection criteria, please have the following information and documentation ready in advance:
EHA Membership Verification: You must be a fully "paid-up" member of the EHA. Please provide your current membership reference or business details to verify eligibility for this dedicated funding stream.
Empowering Your Development (The Personal Statement): In line with our application guidance, we are looking for more than just a summary of your career history. We want to understand the individual behind the CV. Your personal statement (approximately 300–500 words) should clearly articulate how the specific Executive & Leadership programme you are applying for will act as a catalyst for your professional growth.
-
When crafting your statement, please consider the following:
Bridging the Gap: Identify the specific leadership skills or strategic knowledge you currently lack and explain how this programme will help bridge that gap.
Fresh Perspectives: How will engaging with industry-leading best practices and peer-to-peer learning refresh your current approach to management?
Tangible Impact: How will this investment in your development translate into measurable benefits for your business and the wider Edinburgh hospitality community?
Future Ambition: How does this scholarship align with your long-term career aspirations within the Scottish hospitality sector?
The "HIT" Factor: Showcase your passion and commitment to the industry. Use this statement to tell us your story and demonstrate why you are ready to take the next step in your leadership journey.
-
This is essential. You must have the explicit support of a senior leader (General Manager, Operations Manager, or HR Director) where applicable.
They must confirm that the business is willing to provide you with the necessary time to fully immerse yourself in the programme, and cover any costs incurred with attending.
-
Commitment to the Industry:
The HIT Scotland Executive & Leadership Programme offer is an investment in the Scottish hospitality sector made to you on behalf of the EHA, HIT Scotland and the Crerar Trust.
By applying, you agree that should you leave the industry or move away from Scotland before the programme completes, you will forfeit your place.
-
To ensure the integrity of the learning experience and the fair distribution of EHA-secured funding, the following conditions apply to all submissions:
Membership Status: Access to this funding and the dedicated application process is strictly reserved for paid-up members of the Edinburgh Hoteliers Association (EHA). Membership status will be verified upon receipt of your application.
Suitability & Vetting: Submission of an application does not guarantee a place. All applications undergo a rigorous vetting process by HIT Scotland to ensure the candidate's experience and role align with the specific requirements of the chosen programme.
Business Caps & Peer Diversity: To foster a rich learning environment with a diverse mix of industry peers, HIT Scotland may restrict the number of delegates from a single business attending the same programme.
Deferred Places: In instances where multiple successful applications originate from the same business, HIT Scotland reserves the right to offer deferred places for later programme dates. This ensures every cohort benefits from a broad cross-section of industry perspectives.
Standard Terms: All applications and awarded programme places are subject to the standard [HIT Scotland Terms & Conditions].
