White Christmas For HIT Scotland

Christmas arrived early on the Clyde today (23rd October 2008) when an unexpected snow shower fell at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

One group of onlookers who enjoyed the flurry was the team planning the Hospitality Industry Trust (HIT) Scotland Christmas party, Scotland’s biggest winter event for the hospitality sector. The party will be held at the hotel on Thursday 4th December.

Committee chair, Stephen Murphy from Brakes Fresh Ideas, Myfanwy Taylor, from Meiko, Sian Cresswell, from the Glasgow Marriott Hotel and Dominic McVey, General Manager of the Crowne Plaza Hotel, took the opportunity to pull a giant cracker and celebrate the season early as tickets for the event went on sale.

Every year HIT Scotland, an industry charity, hosts Scotland’s biggest Christmas party for the hospitality industry to thank supporters and celebrate before the office party season reaches its busiest period.

Stephen Murphy is looking forward to a great night, "The snow reminded everyone of the magic of a traditional Christmas. This year we want to bring that feeling to a Christmas party but at a time when hospitality workers can enjoy it. For many it will be the last chance to meet up and socialise until after the New Year. ”

Guests at the party will enjoy a time-honoured Christmas theme with music from 1980s tribute act Vienna and DJ Tommy Gray following a dinner at Glasgow’s Crowne Plaza Hotel.

The evening is focussed on fun and entertainment but any money raised will go support HIT Scotland's bursary and scholarship programmes. This year HIT Scotland has a record fund to promote excellence and raise aspirations. Scholars undertake money can’t buy work placements and international industry courses.
