Luxury Hotel Opens Doors Early For POETS Prize

12th August 2008

In Glasgow city centre, work continues on one of Scotland's most eagerly anticipated new hotels. However, a Scottish charity will be given the keys to Blythswood Square early and is auctioning an exclusive preview night for one group of lucky people.

The former Royal Scottish Automobile Club in Blythswood Square is currently being transformed into a boutique hotel, restaurant and spa by The Town House Collection. The hotel is scheduled to open in April 2009.

Top auction prize at the Hospitality Industry Trust (HIT) Scotland's POETS lunch, on September 5th, is an overnight stay for 20 people before the official opening date. Although difficult to value, the charity believes this money-can't-buy-package is worth thousands of pounds in accommodation alone.

The auction winners will be treated to a night to remember which includes the chance to dine in the new restaurant, be among the first to try the luxury bedrooms and feast on a sumptuous breakfast. They may even be able to explore the facilities in the new spa.

The stay must be taken before the hotel opens in April 2009 and dates are subject to change. If the new spa is completed and tested then it may be made available as part of the prize.

All money raised from the event will go to HIT Scotland's scholarship and bursary programmes. Last year HIT Scotland awarded over £105,000 to university and college students facing financial difficulty and sent 191 Scots on Emerging Talent Scholarships to encourage excellence in the industry.

Proxy bids can be registered with David Cochrane at info@hitscotland.co.uk.

Blythswood Square is a new boutique hotel from The Town House Collection. It is the group's first hotel in Glasgow. They also operate The Bonham, The Howard, Channings and The Edinburgh Residence, in Edinburgh. For more information on Blythswood Square visit
