Bursary success for Angus!!
7th May 2008
A student is leaving Angus College to work with one of Britain’s top chefs with a five hundred pounds cash boost to help him get started.
Seventeen year old Adam Newth is one of ten hospitality students from Angus College to benefit from three thousand pounds worth of bursary awards from the Hospitality Industry Trust Scotland. The Trust is a charity which raises funds to support and encourage excellence in the hospitality industry.
Adam, who is going to work for top chef Paul Whitecross at his Edinburgh restaurant, the Circus Wine Bar and Grill, says the money will be a huge help with buying equipment and finding accommodation.
The College has awarded another five hundred pounds to twenty year old Laura McLellan, who is starting a job as a chef at Craigendarroch Hilton in Aberdeenshire. A further eight students, who are continuing with their studies will receive another two thousand pounds in total.
Curriculum Manager, Neil Jack says all of these students are deserving of the bursaries. What sets Adam and Laura apart is that they are leaving to take up excellent posts within the industry. They have shown great application and determination and we expect them to do very well.”
