THE HIT SCOTLAND EDINBURGH LUNCH AIM TO SET WORLD RECORD
FOR THE NUMBER OF GUESTS DINING ‘BLIND’
MONDAY 16 NOVEMBER 2009 at 12.30pm
This year the HIT Edinburgh lunch aims to set a world record for the number of guests dining ‘blind’. At this 12th annual lunch on Monday 16 November it is expected that more than 400 people will participate in the Sensory Dining concept developed by the host venue, the Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa.
Guest speakers this year are industry guru Sir Rocco Forte and blind chef, Jean Lewis, co-founder of the renowned Monachyle Mhor Hotel in central Scotland.
HIT Edinburgh has applied to the Guinness Book of Records to see if it can attempt to set a world record for the largest number of diners eating blindfold at the lunch! Throughout the Sensory Dining experience all 400 diners will be blindfolded, with no prior knowledge of the dishes or beverages on the menu. The concept is designed to heighten awareness of the food’s flavours, smells and textures, by removing sight. Each table will have a host who will guide diners through the two Sensory Dining courses, hinting at what’s soon to hit their palates.
Tickets cost £70 if you book before September 18th, thereafter the cost is £75.
