Perth College UHI hospitality student Viktorija Busilaite was awarded a scholarship from the Hospitality Industry Trust (HIT) Scotland to visit the oldest hotel school in the world; Ecole Hoteliere in Lausanne, Switzerland. Founded in 1893, it is the oldest hospitality school in the world and offers high-level studies to students who are aiming for careers in the hotel industry.

In her four-day trip, she learned how the hotel school operated and also the standards required for Swiss students and their study topics.

Viktorija said: “This scholarship was the best example of the hospitality industry I have ever experienced. They offered customers an excellent service, and demonstrated the concepts they practiced in their seminar, making it easy to understand.

“The additional visit to Beau-Rivage Palace de Lausanne, one of the leading hotels of the world, gave me the opportunity to compare their service style to those which I have seen and experienced in Scotland and other places in the world. The visit enriched my current knowledge of the hospitality industry, which I will gladly share with my colleagues in college and employers.

“I would like to thank those who gave me a chance, as a student and employee within the industry, to build the skills needed to deliver an excellent customer service to every customer in the world.”
